Prioritized list of to-do’s for 4/23/2015:
- Make list of approximately 10 TED Talks you want to review/study.
- You should not watch the entire video right now. Watch the first minute or so to see if you are truly interested, then add it to your list.
- Give the list to Mr. Shreffler.
- The sooner you do this, the better. Each period can only have one person watching each video. The longer you wait, the more videos will be taken.
- Create your blog on weebly.com
- Remember, your blog address should be professional. I would recommend First Name TEDxWOHS (i.e. BradTEDxWOHS.weebly.com). Your blog title can be the same, or you can make it something else. Again, keep it professional.
- Don’t spend a lot of time right now working on changing the appearance of your blog. If you want to change the appearance, work on that at home/on your own time.
- Send your blog address to Mr. Shreffler.
- Preferably in email, if you can.
- Write an introductory post on your blog.
- This post should include the following:
- Who you are: Your name, maybe a little about you (what grade you’re in, that you go to WOHS, etc.).
- An introduction to the project. What are you being asked to do in your own words?
- What are you interested in. Remember, the point of your final TEDx Talk is to answer the question “What Matters (To Me)?” What do you think the answer to that question is now? It could change. You can also admit that you don’t know.
- What do you hope to learn through this project? Set a goal for yourself of some kind. “I hope to learn more about the topic of ______.” “I hope to find what I’m passionate about.” “I want to grow as a person.” etc.
- This should be written in a blog/article format. This means that paragraphs don’t have to be 5-7 sentences. They should be organized by what you’re talking about. They may only be 1 sentence a piece. That’s OK. Keep it organized.
- If you get through all of this, look at some of your classmates blogs. Read their introductions. Comment on them if you’d like.
