- Make list of approximately 10 TED Talks you want to review/study.
- You should not watch the entire video right now. Watch the first minute or so to see if you are truly interested, then add it to your list.
- Give the list to Mr. Shreffler.
- The sooner you do this, the better. Each period can only have one person watching each video. The longer you wait, the more videos will be taken.
- Create your blog on weebly.com
- Remember, your blog address should be professional. It should be First Name TEDxWOHS (i.e. BradTEDxWOHS.weebly.com). Your blog title should be the same. Again, keep it professional.
- Don’t spend a lot of time right now working on changing the appearance of your blog. If you want to change the appearance, work on that at home/on your own time.
- Send your blog address to Mr. Shreffler.
- Preferably in email, if you can.
- Write an introductory post on your blog.
- This post should include the following:
- Who you are: Your name, maybe a little about you (what grade you’re in, that you go to WOHS, etc.).
- An introduction to the project. What are you being asked to do in your own words?
- What are you interested in. Remember, the point of your final TEDx Talk is to answer the question “What Matters (To Me)?” What do you think the answer to that question is now? It could change. You can also admit that you don’t know.
- What do you hope to learn through this project? Set a goal for yourself of some kind. “I hope to learn more about the topic of ______.” “I hope to find what I’m passionate about.” “I want to grow as a person.” etc.
- This should be written in a blog/article format. This means that paragraphs don’t have to be 5-7 sentences. They should be organized by what you’re talking about. They may only be 1 sentence a piece. That’s OK. Keep it organized.
- Look at some of your classmates blogs. Read their introductions. Comment on them if you’d like. Student Blog List here.
- If you have made at least 2 comments on classmates blogs, you can start to change the appearance of your own blog if you’d like.
