What is our presentation about?
You are answering the question "What Matters To Me?" Think about the best way for you to answer that question. Feel free to be creative.
Can we talk about more than one thing?
You can talk about a few things, but with only 5 minutes, you won't have time to thoroughly discuss more than 3 topics. Ideally, your talk would be a deep investigation of a single topic that you are passionate about. The goal here is to teach someone something, to make the class learn about a fascinating topic.
What should we do first?
The first step is to write your speech. With the auto-forward of the slides to consider, you will not be able to ad-lib this presentation. You will need a fully written speech. Write the speech. Give the speech. If it's too short, add more. If it's too long, take some out.
I've written my speech. Now what?
Break it up into 15 second chunks. Now look for images that can accompany those chunks. Those become your slides.
How many slides do we need? How long is our presentation?
You presentation will consist of 20 slides that will auto-forward every 15 seconds. This means your presentation will be exactly 5 minutes.
Do we have to memorize our speech?
Yes. With the 15 second auto-forward, you will not be able to read your speech off of note cards and actually complete it. You can have note cards, but they should only contain bullet points, reminders of what each section of your speech is about. Ideally, you wouldn't have them at all.
Do we have to dress up?
Yes. If your topic has clothing, use that. Otherwise, you should dress professionally. You will not be given time at the beginning of class to change (you can't bring bags to school next week anyways).
